Discover Insight
Are you struggling with an issue that you can't resolve by yourself? The basic ground rules in our society are to figure out things by yourself. Whether you're a business owner or an employee, it is easier to first figure out problems by yourself. But what if all that energy was channeled into asking others for input? The first three things that one says, CEOs in particular, when taking that approach is, "That won't work," "We already tried that" and "That's a stupid idea." Mike Scott, a friend on mine, says that a person who says any of those three statements is a poor listener and is not open. In his business consulting, he states, "If you're coming in with that attitude, you have already stopped being open and you might as well go home, because you're not able or willing to learn." So if you have a pressing problem that is not easily solved, ask for help from your team of people and be prepared to write down what they say. Ask 10 people, and start your process. Be prepared to be amazed at the potential of this new power to solve your problems.
Pete's Perspective
The smartest action I ever took to help me solve my problems, get clarity and step into action was being in a mastermind group. My mastermind group has evolved to four wonderful people who support me as I support them. Just yesterday, Stacey thanked me for turning her on to the book "Ask and It Is Given" by Ester and Jerry Hicks. She said that with a member of her support team, she achieved clarity to her life's work of being an innovator in professional sports performance success. She used what she had just read in the book and applied it by asking for what she wanted, even as it meant switching tactics in her marketing approach. Her real insight was to focus on her main goal. I myself have been jumping around like a Mexican jumping bean which now I guess is called a Hispanic jumping bean for those of you who even remembered that term or the beans themselves. Guess I'm dating myself. Now my mastermind group is focusing me which is a good thing, because if I want to achieve the various stages to my main core goal, I have to be in action. This means focus on what is most important to me which is speaking and training. I'm working on a workshop for September and October in the greater San Francisco Bay area, so stay tuned for the details of "Living What You Dream About." My wife Mindy and I just added to our family with the addition with a 9-week old flat coat retriever puppy, Maui. Maui got her name from our favorite place in the world next to our home here in Discovery Bay. Just like any newborn, we are getting less sleep and taking naps when she does.
Hugs with Love, Pete
