Focus Exercise
It's a New Year and a great time to create some positive momentum for achieving your goals. Yet in order to move forward, we sometimes need to take a step backward. Since the focus this month is on discovering your true value so you can promote yourself confidently and authentically, a good place to start is to take a few minutes to get clear about where you are now in regard to these issues. Are you holding yourself back from growing your business because of fear of self-promotion? Are you struggling with issues of self-worth and confidence? Find a quiet place and a time when you can take 30 minutes to sit and contemplate what has been holding you back. Be honest about your fears, doubts, procrastination, limiting beliefs, lack of action-whatever you are aware of that you could be doing to build your business that you are not doing. For some it might be sitting down to write that marketing plan. For others it might be picking up the phone to make follow-up calls. Some may be putting off signing up with a business coach. Or you might just uncover the fact that you're not really happy with the direction your business has been going and you might want to re-focus and re-think its direction. I discovered that about my business this last year, and I've been taking steps to make the necessary adjustments. You can't promote what you're not passionate about! So sit quietly and ask the deepest part of yourself: "what's going on with me now?" Only with this awareness can you take steps to make the corrections to get back on course.
Entrepreneur's Corner
From the viewpoint of a business owner, you may not see how discovering your true value has anything to do with running a successful business. Yet it has everything to do with running your business as well as your life. If you don't know your true worth, it could be why you may be feeling dissatisfied with some parts of your life. You're not allowing yourself the goodness you deserve. And if you're not doing business with a sense of your own true value-who you are, what skills you have, your own uniqueness, and what you bring to the table as a business owner-it could be why you're not as successful as you would like to be. You're probably uncomfortable promoting yourself, and you stay stuck in your comfort zone and do only what is easiest for you. So instead of turning away from looking inside yourself as a necessary part of business growth, consider embracing these concepts and watch what a difference it will make in you and those around you-as well as in your business and your life.

I've been an executive coach for more than 10 years as many of you know, so I'm well acquainted with the typical problems entrepreneurs face. They want to grow their business, but don't have the knowledge, tools, time or energy. They want to make a good living doing what they love and what they're good at, but they get stuck struggling to stay afloat while launching their business.
